As I have mentioned previously, Jess and I are personal development freaks and avidly consume any content of the type that we come in contact with. One popular personality dominating the air waves in recent years is Dr. Jordan B. Peterson. I certainly acknowledge not everyone shares my fondness for him, but I admire his courage and immense intellect and I look for every opportunity to learn more about his work.
When I heard the Canadian was coming to town on his “We Who Wrestle With God Tour” later this Spring, I quickly swiped up a couple of tickets for Jess and I. Although many of his most popular lectures and the ones I am most familiar with were based on his 1st book, “Maps of Meaning”, written in 1999, my main method of exposure to Dr. Peterson has been through YouTube videos and either his own Podcast or other Podcasts on which he has been a much sought after guest, that said, I figured it would be a good idea to become more familiar with his work, for this I chose his 3rd but not most recent book, 2018’s “The 12 Rules for Life ~ An Antidote To Chaos”.
In the “12 Rules”, as the title suggests, Jordan Peterson supports his intent to bring clarity to the chaos of our lives through lessons from various sources including the animal kingdom (Lesson 12: Pet a Cat When You Encounter One on The Street) and his own experiences (Rule 11: Do Not Bother Children While They Are Skateboarding). He takes us through almost 400 pages of wisdom while expanding upon some of those, a few being the types of things your mother probably told you as a kid (Rule 8: Tell the Truth or at Least Don’t Lie) or (Rule 1:Stand Up Straight with Your Shoulders Back). Jess and I touch on many of these in our discussion and will most likely have more to add after we see Jordan on April 9th, 2024 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC , which we are both really looking forward to!
Talk to you then..
